Quality accommodation in a tranquil setting. Ideal for family gatherings. Stay just for the weekend 4pm Friday to 4pm Sunday - see bookings page Victorian Charm Dalefield dates from the 1860's and is blessed with a number of fine period features, from original fireplaces to ornate coving. High ceilings and the large hallway give a light, airy atmosphere, and we have sought to make the most of this fine property with the addition of handsome William Morris wallpapers, a claw foot slipper bath and cast iron radiators. An interesting collection of photographs by some of the pioneers of Lake District and mountain photography adorns the walls, including some very early prints of Ambleside (c. 1860) taken by renowned local photographer Moses Bowness. These we have printed from the original stereographic glass plates. Sitting Room A smart room with the original fossil limestone fireplace. Slump into one of the comfy sofas and relax in front of the open fire when it gets chilly. There is a TV with DVD, a stereo, and also a good selection of games to play, DVDs and CDs. Second Sitting Room This is our library/music room as well as children's playroom. There is a sofa, children's toys (lots of Thomas train set, duplo, dolls etc.) TV, piano, and an abundance of books. ![]() Kitchen and Dining Room The kitchen has everything you would expect: gas cooker, fridge freezer, microwave, toaster, dishwasher, washing machine, dryer and a good selection of pans, knives, utensils, oven dishes and plenty of plates of various sizes, as well as plenty of wine glasses etc. These of a good quality as well, rather than the assortment of odd plates, flimsy knives and cheap cutlery often found at holiday houses. The dining room has a good size table, extendable to seat 10. Double doors lead directly into the garden. There is a high chair available, as well as a cot. Please ask. You will also find a file with menus and recommendations for local restaurants (of which there are about 20), and take-aways and a selection of walks and all the usual tourist brochures. "Dear Paul and family, Thanks for the really nice homely home. It is very child friendly. We will definitely recommend to our friends" Mohammed, family and friends, London. May 2010
